How it all started

StreamShuttle grew out of a frustrating search for a simple, private, and secure video monitoring solution with the features you would expect from a modern NVR. The founder initially wanted something that met those needs without the complexity and compromises baked into the existing options.

After exploring many alternatives, it became clear that most choices were either overly complicated to set up and manage or lacked essential features. The privacy concerns around handing footage to the giants in the industry were hard to ignore. Their recurring monthly charges and hardware lock-in made them even harder to stomach.

One of those solutions worked as a reluctant compromise for a while. The turning point came when friends and family started asking for advice about setting up their own systems, and there was no decent recommendation to offer. Accepting those tradeoffs personally was one thing. Passing them on to others was out of the question.

That's what led to StreamShuttle. Our goal is a comprehensive platform for managing video surveillance and security at home or at a business, without sacrificing privacy or simplicity.
