What is a VPN and why do I need it?

A virtual private network (VPN) lets you securely access your home network from anywhere through an encrypted tunnel. To view cameras remotely, we recommend setting up a VPN rather than exposing StreamShuttle, or any other service, directly to the internet. This lets you access your cameras remotely at no charge.

StreamShuttle includes a built-in WireGuard configuration wizard, allowing you to set up a secure VPN in a couple of clicks. Visit WireGuard to download and install the client.
